After discovering Lawrence Farmer IV through his recent work with Gospel artist Tye Tribbett, I was excited to learn that he (Farmer) had just produced an entire album. I "surfed" around the web previewing songs from the album & knew I HAD to have it ! With 14 tracks, the majority of the cd is composed of ballads--very pleasant & suitable for easy-listening. Benita Farmer's powerful yet raspy voice is kind of like a cross between Anita Baker & Kim Burrell. Her voice fits these songs (particularly the ballads) like a glass slipper! My personal favorites include "He's Not Far Away" and "Come Home". "I Love You Lord" is an OK song but (in contrast to the rest of the album) sticks out like a sore thumb due to it's Caribbean/Reggae feel. The more up-tempo tracks include "Believe", "Higher", and "Journey"(my favorite of the 3 being "Journey"). For the more advanced musician, songs like "Dance of Eternity"(which really doesn't end!) and"Outro/Jam Session" are just examples of the jaw-dropping, mind-boggling, rewind&repeat;worthy works musical genius performed by the band New Journey. I'd be willing to pay good money for anyone who upon listening to the aforementioned tracks for the 1st time, was able to anticipate what was coming next ! lol Overall, with admirable creativity, inspirational lyrics and awe-inspiring freedom of experimentation, this cd is a masterpiece ! Also as a musician, vocalist, and most importantly a Christian -- this cd proves to be a blessing as well. You won't regret taking a chance on it ! God bless and enjoy .
